    Good Book for Beginner Students

    I'm impressed with this line of books. I purchased a class set to use with some upper level French courses in high school. The books follow the storyline as best as can be expected with such a large abridgement of the story. It comes with an audio CD which can be useful in class and helps train student ears to hear the language. It also includes activities for each chapter to check for comprehension. These are located at the end of the book and are very helpful to me as a school teacher. I like that my students will learn the story and gain that cultural perspective while improving their language skills. Like mentioned before, the only disappointment with any Easy Reader of a classic is that this story lacks that certain "panache" that the original play contains. I do feel however that this is the best version of simplified text that I could find. I did a lot of searching.
